HELP FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SUFFERING ABUSE OR BULLYING

Book II CHILDREN OF THE STARS & Book III A BUNCH OF WILD FLOWERS briefly touch upon the sensitive subjects of child physical and sexual abuse and bullying.  If this raises personal issues for any young person reading my books, I have spoken to the very nice people at CHILDLINE and they have told me:

TO CONTACT THEM FOR HELP OR A CHAT.

ChildLine is the UK's free 24-hour helpline for children and young people in danger or distress, who can call ChildLine on 0800 1111 for help with bullying, abuse or any other problem.

Whilst I was a serving Police Officer, I was involved in various child abuse investigations. Therefore Child Protection issues are very close to my heart.  For this reason I have also included the above CHILDLINE 0800 1111 details on the 'Useful Contacts' page at the rear of my books. I joined the Police Cadets when I was 16 years old, went on to serve with the Leicestershire Constabulary for 30 years and was awarded the 'Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.'  When I retired, it was the first time the 'Tea Fund' went into profit!

For any reader who may be interested in how the Leicestershire Constabulary polices the County of Leicestershire, England, or interested in joining the Police Force, you are welcome  to peruse their website:

After I had retired from the Police Force I gained a place as a full-time very mature student at the University of Leicester.  After five years of slogging away over piles of books (I swore I would never read another book again! then went on to write three books instead!) I attained a BA(Hons) in Archaeology, Greek and Roman Literature and Sociology; a Master's Degree in Social Sciences and the Diploma in Social Work.

It was fun, but sometimes it could be stressful as well.  If you did not keep on top of the work, deadline dates for written assignments and dissertations could sometimes creep up and smack you around the back of the head!:

For any reader who may be interested in life at the University of Leicester and what they have to offer, you are welcome to peruse their website:
