Written for older children but with adults in mind (think Harry Potter) this debut is a witty and charming adventure

that will leave readers desperate to get their hands on the next two instalments in the trilogy. I am in my late 20's

and I will be adding them to my Christmas list.  This book is suitable for both sexes as well as a wide age group

(I suggest ages 10+).

The story is a tale of good versus evil in a land of Gods and monsters, curses and spells and all things magical.

A combination of ancient myth, humour and creative fiction, Flowers of the Gods is educational as well as exciting.

There are a few rude bits, (I'd say 'cheeky') but nothing to cause parents any concern. I also had some great dreams

after reading the book at bedtime! I think children will really love the characters, possibly inspiring them to make

drawings etc (I know I would have when I was 10). It's the sort of book that, if made into a computer game, I would

encourage my kids to play.

This book is marketed for the teenage market, but I read it and I am 34. It is excellent!

It is really a brilliant adventure and you learn about the stars, the natural world and about Greek mythology at

the same time.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a boring educational book. It's just a great adventure story, but you kind of learn things

at the same time without really trying......

The characters took me back to when I was a young teenager and made me think about the summers that seemed

so long then and the endless possibilities and adventures that you could magic out of your own imagination.

There are goodies, baddies, quirky loveable characters and an ending that makes me desperate for the next book to

be released. Can't wait..........

What a great read!

Loved the sense of humour which ran all the way through all three books in 'The Wild Flower Trilogy.'
The Kids and I also learnt a lot about the Stars and Greek mythology.
The books aided myself and the Wife with a peaceful holiday as it kept the kids quiet.
Well done and all the best.

Recommendations for: Flowers of the Gods (Paul B. Hayward)

Book Synopsis
At the beginning of time a dark planet, Earth, wandered through the constellations in the night sky. Mother Nature created the trees and wildflowers, and placed the Golden Bluebell -- a flower that held the power of nature and the power of time to control the four seasons -- at a secret location on top of a wooded hill in the heart of England ... and this set down a challenge for the Gods and goddesses ...

Flowers of the Gods is the first book in The Wildflower Trilogy and is a beautiful little story that is set at the very start of time when Mother Nature plants wildflowers across the surface of the planet. It also includes both Greek and Roman gods and their role in the original creation of the world. Essentially it is a retelling of some of the ancient myths but with a modern twist.

When I first received this series I was a little curious, the idea of combining wildflowers with myths and legends and constellations seemed rather bizarre and I wondered how the author was going to handle it. The answer is with a grace and charm that is rare in modern writing. There is nothing aggressive or difficult about this book. It has been a positive joy to read and, as a result, was extremely refreshing.

The writing style is thoroughly entertaining and amusing in parts and it is this combination of a charming storyline, a soft touch to the writing and gentle humour that makes this so appealing.

CHILDREN OF THE STARS (Book 2 in 'The Wild Flower Trilogy')

Children of the Stars is the second book in The Wildflower Trilogy and traces the ongoing adventures of Poppy and St John as they realise their destiny. As with the first book in the series, Paul Hayward has intertwined a wonderful little story, about a brother and sister who are tasked with saving the world, with myths and legends of some of the gods, goddesses and their respective constellations. Once again I can picture parents and children reading the book together and then looking out of the window to see if they can identify any of the constellations described within the story. In fact, I have to confess, I found myself telling my mother the story of Cassiopeia as we looked for her constellation last weekend!

I love this series of books. They are as close to perfection, in the world of children's fiction, as you are likely to get!

A Bunch of Wild Flowers is the final book in The Wild Flower Trilogy.

As with the first two volumes of the trilogy this story is completely enchanting and had me hooked from the very start. Once again I can honestly say that this set of stories would be perfect for reading to young children as Paul Hayward has managed to combine adventure and excitement with a story about Greek gods and British wild flowers. I would also like to reassure anyone considering buying the collection that there is nothing in any of these books that could possibly cause offence or upset any one.

If you start to read these books with your children I can guarantee that by the end of the first book you will be enjoying it as much as your listeners and the inclusion of star charts and constellations will give you a source book to use when you next look up at the night sky.

Truly fabulous!

THE RUGBY ADVERTISER  5th October 2006 By Kate Harris
The exciting adventures in 'The Wild Flower Trilogy' written by Paul Hayward aims to encourage disinterested children and adults away from computer games and back into something far more creative and constructive.
Paul's thrilling books, Flowers of the Gods, Children of the Stars and A Bunch of Wild Flowers touch on academic subjects such as astronomy and Greek and Roman mythology and the first of the witty trilogy will leave the reader desperate to acquire the next two instalments.
