                      * NEVER SO FAR *

Did you ever see a sunset stretch across the starry skies

and wish those wondrous colours were reflected in my eyes?

Did you ever wonder about this, when the night came closing in,

if that same moon you're looking at was shining on your friend?

Did you ever stop and think, no matter where you are,

I just might be gazing up at that self-same star?

Do you know that gentle breeze that cools your fevered brow,

could be dancing in my hair, or touching me somehow?

And if I sent a kiss to you, carried on the wind,

it might reach you, take one too, and bring it back again.

And if you see a shooting star across the heavens glide,

my mouth might form an "Oh, how grand!" as if standing by your side.

So when you close your eyes tonight, and the darkness does descend,

that same night wraps around me too, until I wake again.

That morning sunrise that you see, so glorious and pink,

my eyes are looking at it too, it makes me stop and think.

No matter what the distance, it matters not how far,

we can always find each other, in the morning star.

HILDREN OF THE TARS continues where

                            “FLOWERS OF THE GODS” ends.

Step one of the desperate plans by the three WHITE ARCHANGELS:

Bryony, Angelica and Sorrel, has succeeded:

                          WHITE ARCHANGEL WILD FLOWER

Poppy Flos and St John Cassius, the direct descendants of Flos and Cassius, are now

settling into their temporary home in Leicestershire.

Now for step two of their plans.  Using the unique capability that the goddess,

Mother Nature, bestowed upon them the three WHITE ARCHANGELS undergo

the transformation suggested by their name:

Sorrel strategically plants an ENCHANTER’S NIGHTSHADE wild flower.  Magical

powers, that the flower’s name suggests, draw Poppy Flos into the angels’ floral world:

                               ENCHANTER’S NIGHTSHADE

Angelica hovers over the Earth above the tiny hamlet where the twins are staying and

patiently bides her time to commence step three:

The soft, shimmering light of the moon filters through their bedroom windows to

encourage the drowsy Poppy and St John to retire – intent upon a peaceful sleep:

The visitation that follows turns their world upside down when Angelica sweeps them to

the where the Golden Bluebell grows and their quest to the stars is revealed to them.

Despite the shock of what is expected, the twins’ practical minds realise it is impossible

without a means of transport.  However, unbeknown to them the goddess, Athena, is

watching events from the heavens:

Mindful of the eternal friendship between herself and Andromeda, Athena intervenes on

behalf of Poppy - the new ‘Flower Girl’ - that now wears Andromeda’s Friendship Ring.

The pair not only acquires an amazing form of transport, but an amazing friend:

Thus, the teenage twins set out on a journey through our Milky Way galaxy to navigate

through the star constellations shown on the naked-eye astronomical maps contained in

this book.  Readers may use this easy-to-follow map to observe our night sky, identify

the different star patterns and follow their progress.

Poppy and St John’s quest is both awe inspiring and terrifying.  First, St John has to get

to the constellation of Ursa Major (the Great Bear) to take a line of sight along its

‘pointer stars’ and locate Polaris - the North Pole Star:

Once at Polaris, St John would be able to orientate the other constellations and plot his

course from there.  On arrival at Ursa Major, the pair was to discover that there was more

to ‘The Great Bear’ than just the name!  Poppy was also to discover answers to the

‘Big W’ philosophical questions:   Who? Why? What? When? Where?

This left Poppy with many concepts to ponder upon.

After that, having positioned them at Polaris, St John sets Delphyne the dragon

on course for the Pleiades constellation to seek out vital information from the goddess,

Electra, who resides there.  However, whilst en route, Hecate, goddess of witches and

friend to the Gorgon sisters, seeks to prevent their mission.  Poppy, St John and

Delphyne are cast into the ‘Arena of Death’ to race for their lives.  Only the authority

derived from Andromeda’s Friendship Ring and two magnificent horses from Greek

mythology can save them:

                         XANTHUS            &               BALIUS

Also, the particular ‘special’ wandering souls of space (Comets) take an affectionate

place in the twin’s hearts for amazing personal reasons.

                                    The Hale – Bopp comet

Finally, they reach the Pleiades.  The star, representing Electra’s divine presence in the

constellation, burns dimly in reflection of her misery.

In the heart of the constellation lies Electra's palace, where they are received by Nymphs

from ancient Greek mythology.  Nymphs were fairy-like mini-goddesses that inhabited

woods, fields and streams back on Earth and were said to hold certain mystical powers:

The Nymphs tended to the needs of the fatigued and battered pair.

Delphyne lumbered off with several more Nymphs.  He had his own ideas on how to be

tended to!  Poppy and St John were greeted and  wined and dined by the goddess Electra

in the Great Hall, whilst she related to them past events and her vision that foretold the

destruction of all wild flowers on Earth and the planet's destruction.

                                                         ELECTRA

Electra takes them to the top of her palace tower where she passes on certain items to

Poppy that would help her in the trials to come.  The knowledge of their source of origin

stuns and dumbfounds Poppy!

St John took advantage of looking out through the crystal windows at the surrounding

universe.  Huge clouds of pulsing star dust (Nebulae), cart-wheeling Galaxies and

exploding Supernova surrounded him:

                                      The Orion N ebula

                                     A Starburst Galaxy

                             The explosion of a Supernova

Whilst Poppy has obtained items that will assist her, St John has his own challenge to deal

with when (and if) they ever get back to Earth.  There is only one person from the ancient

past with the experience to advise him and that is the immortal, Perseus.  So, the pair must

now leave Electra and head for the constellation of Andromeda.  Contained within that

constellation is the Andromeda Galaxy which hid the palace where Andromeda and

Perseus dwelt.  St John could just make out the galaxy across the yawning chasm of the

cosmos:

                          THE ANDROMEDA GALAXY (M31)

When they enter the grounds of the palace, Poppy and St John encounter what can only

be described as a unique ‘double-world.’

There are also many different types of Nymphs at the palace to welcome them:

The burden of the task that the Nymphs perform at the palace is shocking to Poppy and

St John.  Back on Earth, if only mankind knew what the Nymphs had to do in their care for

the 'Little Stars', people would change their ways.  When you read in this book of the plight of

the 'Little Stars' it may sadden you.  So, to brighten your sadness, try this:

Poppy and St John also encounter a very imposing ‘Spirit’ that is in charge of the Nymphs.

St John meets with Perseus, who gives him advice and ancient artefacts to aid in executing

his allotted objective.  St John also meets a very unusual boy who gives him an enigmatic

message from the past.  Andromeda reminisces with Poppy on ancestral affairs then

presents Poppy with a gift from a major divine source.

The twins have now gained all the information and resources they can to meet the evil

challenge back on Earth.  They make ready to leave for their return journey across the

galaxy to their home planet, but before they leave Electra sends them a warning, which she

has received in a vision.  Hecate, goddess of witches, is hell-bent on preventing their

return to Earth.  There is a terrifying entity, The Hydra, waiting out there in the cosmos to

annihilate them!  They have no choice but to run the gauntlet.

                                     Halfway home, The Hydra strikes!

Some clever manoeuvres by St John and the dragon initially save them from being caught.

You may not be in control of a dragon, but try this for clever manoeuvres:

The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit by the blue blocks,

or touching the black walls.  If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal.

It has been said that the Air Force uses this for fighter pilots.

They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes!

However, only the authority of Andromeda’s Friendship Ring, which Poppy uses to call upon the

Greek god Orion for help, can ultimately save them.  Well, that … and the bravery of Delphyne:

As a result of the clash Poppy and St John are stranded in the Orion constellation without

hope of ever returning to Earth.  However, the god, Orion, comes up with an inspirational

idea of ‘priestly’ transport which is not all that first meets the eye.

Safe now from any further danger on the last leg of their journey, the twins absorb the

beauty of the constellations and St John takes time to relate to Poppy the background

stories of the gods, goddesses and exotic animals that reside within those constellations.

He also points out to her various constellations that represent the signs of the Zodiac:

Soon, Poppy and St John are hovering by the side of the star, Polaris, and looking down

upon the North Pole of their beloved Earth.  The scintillating sight of the Aurora Borealis

greets them:

The Aurora Borealis – as seen from space from the space shuttle

All they have to face now is the dangerous, searing, re-entry through the Earth’s

protective atmosphere and they will be back amongst the clouds and blue sky of the solar

system’s ‘Blue Planet.’

ANOTHER ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA THAT IS RARELY SEEN IS:

A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED ON THE IDAHO/WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF

ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

Origins:   This is a real photograph of an atmospheric phenomenon known as a circumhorizontalarc (or "fire rainbow").

The example shown above was captured on camera as it hung for about an hour across a several-hundred square mile area of

sky above northern Idaho (near the Washington border) on 3 June 2006

In general, a circumhorizontalarc (or "fire rainbow") appears when the sun is high in the sky (i.e., higher than 58° above the

horizon), and its light passes through diaphanous, high-altitude cirrus clouds made up of hexagonal plate crystals.

Sunlight entering the crystals' vertical side faces and leaving through their bottom faces is refracted (as through a prism)

and separated into an array of visible colours. When the plate crystals in cirrus clouds are aligned optimally (i.e., with their

faces parallel to the ground), the resulting display is a brilliant spectrum of colours reminiscent of a rainbow.
