“A BUNCH OF WILD FLOWERS” picks ups where

“CHILDREN OF THE STARS” finishes.  Poppy and St John have just

re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere and are now making their way home to

the county of  Leicestershire, England, to face Armageddon.  That, itself,

is terrifying. So the last thing they need is an aircraft making it even worse!:

Why does the 13th century Italian story of Francesca Da Rimini suddenly

become so important in St John’s life?

                                     FRANCESCA DA RIMINI

Why does the 15th century English king, Henry V and the date:

25th October 1415 become so important to Poppy’s life?

                                              KING HENRY V

The twins return to Honeypot Hill to face the greatest destructive evil

ever known to mankind, yet the only support waiting to welcome them

home are the three White Archangels and Pig:

The only source available for Poppy to turn to for help is . . .

                               “A BUNCH OF WILD FLOWERS”

    ARROWHEAD                   COLTSFOOT                 HARDHEAD

SPEAR THISTLE                  TWAY BLADE               DOG VIOLET

AUTUMN HAWKBIT            GROUND IVY                    BUGLE

(Above are just a few of our many common British wild flowers)

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.”

                       (Quote from Shakespeare’s play - Henry V)

Lest we forget the beauty and importance of the wild flowers

                                      and the countryside around us.

The GOLDEN BLUEBELL is at the mercy of the hate-crazed Gorgon,

STHENO with her terrifying, blood-thirsty cohort:

Has Poppy correctly assessed the capabilities of the enemy?  Can her

defence and attack strategy meet the challenge?  She is outnumbered

by five-to-one.  Yet her battle tactics are 600 years old!

Poppy has made her decisions.  Would it have helped her if she had obtained

a forecast from the Rune Casts?  Casting Runes has been used as a form of

divination since the fourth century.  With the emergence of Christianity, Runes

came to be seen as a pagan, evil practice.  Consequently, Rune Casting was

repressed.  Today, using Runes as a method of fortune telling is becoming

more and more popular.  Would you like to cast your own Runes?

                                                    YEW TREE

What role does the history and mystery of the Yew tree play in all of this?

Perseus had loaned St John certain items when the twins had visited both

he and Andromeda at their palace in the Andromeda constellation.  The

items and the task for their intended purpose were clear.  There were to be

no choices for St John.  His only choice was that of life or death!

On the same visit to the palace, Andromeda had gifted an article, on behalf

of a major divine source, to Poppy. It had since proved invaluable once.

Would it prove its worth again?

For Poppy, who has many challenges to resolve, the saying:

‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’ takes on a real truth:

                                                        XANTHUS

The decisions for St John’s task were ‘set in stone’, but Poppy was faced

with difficult choices.  The goddess, Electra, had also given Poppy an item

to help her meet the challenge to come.  Its source of origin had stunned

and dumbfounded Poppy.

Would Poppy use the item to its best advantage now?

Would she make the right choices?

                       One wore his mistress’ garter, one her glove;

                       And he a lock of his dear Lady’s hair;

                      And he had colours, whom he did most love;

                     There was not one but did some favour wear;

And each one took it, on his happy speed,

To make it famous by some knightly deed.

Michael Drayton (1563 – 1631) ‘Ballad of Agincourt’

In the heat of battle, courage wavering, two symbolic things bolster

St John’s nerve. Can he live up to their values?

ENGLISH OAK TREE                                      HMS VICTORY (Lord Nelson)

Who is Violetta and where did she come from?

Of what importance is this to Pig and to the future?

                                                 VIOLETTA

Has the aftermath of battle posed greater problems than before it began?

Poppy and St John had been to the stars, but there were two divine

entities they had not yet encountered:

                              PEGASUS

Is it really true that ‘Time waits for no man’

Is it really true that: 'Time is relative to the speed of the observer'

Does life really move in repetitive patterns and history repeat itself?

Have you ever had a comet for your birthday?

Not one like this one, you haven’t!

Daisies are silver                BUT                Buttercups are GOLD!

Is there really such a thing as ‘Heaven on Earth’?

Perhaps Andromeda’s ‘Little Stars’ give the answer.

                      ?                                                      ?

                   ?                                                       ?

Well, that’s it!  I seem to have posed more questions than giving answers.

I could not do it any other way. Honest!  Do you see me smirking? Never!

Still, you can always read it to get the answers!

Right!  I’m off to make a flask of tea and some sandwiches then go for a

walk along the footpaths to appreciate all those beautiful British wild flowers.

Talking of walks; I was taking a stroll down to Honey Pot Hill the

other day and bumped into some peculiar looking chap coming the other

way. We had a brief chat and by the strangest coincidence he said he had

been dictating a trilogy to his amanuensis and had just finished the third

and final book like me.  I commented that I had not seen him around here before

and he explained that he didn't live here, but had popped over from Greece.

Now, what was his name?  Yes, that’s it; he said it was Pan.

Time marches on, so I must go!

Anyway, I haven't had my breakfast yet:

And I'm dying for a cup of tea!
