A
FAVOURITE STORY OF ANGELICA'S
(AS TOLD BY PIG)

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery,
when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for
years.
He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road.
It looked like fine marble. At the top of a steep hill, it was broken by a tall arch
that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked
like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a
desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wonderful! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."
The man pointed and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and
continued the
way he had been going with his dog.
After a long walk, and at the top of another steep hill, he came to a dirt
road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed.
There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside,
leaning
against
a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned
hand
pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave
some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was
standing
by the tree.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," he answered.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said.
"The man down the road said that
was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates?
No, that's
Hell disguised as Heaven."
"Doesn't it make you angry for them to use your name like that?"
"No, we're just happy they screen out folks who would leave their best
friend behind."
ANOTHER FAVOURITE STORY OF ANGELICA'S
(AS TOLD BY XANTHUS)

Near my home is a field, with two horses in it.
From a distance, each looks like every other horse.
But if you go closer, you will notice something quite amazing.
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind.
His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.
This alone is amazing.
If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell.
Look for the source of the sound; you find it comes from the smaller horse in the field.
Attached to her halter is a bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow.
As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always checking on him.
He will listen for her bell and walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray.
When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening,
she stops occasionally and looks back.
She makes sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.
Like the owners of these two horses, the Great One does not throw us away just because
we are not perfect, or because we have problems or challenges.
He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.
Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell
of those who the Great One places in our lives.
Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to see.
Good friends are like this.
You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.
Please listen for my bell and I will listen for yours.

Don't say you're not important,
It simply isn't true,
The fact that you were born,
Is proof, God has a plan for you.
The path may seem unclear right now,
But one day you will see,
That all that came before,
Was truly meant to be.
God wrote the book that is your life,
That's all you need to know.
Each day that you are living,
Was written long ago.
God only writes best sellers,
So be proud of who you are,
Your character is important,
In this book you are the "Star."
Enjoy the novel as it reads,
It will stand throughout the ages,
Savour each chapter as you go,
Taking time to turn the pages.
