I spent two years (in between the hoovering and ironing)
writing the books and slaving over a hot candle:

Then another two years running around all the different publishers with my
manuscripts:
I tried hard to attract their attention, but being as I was
a first-time and
unknown-writer the publishing world paid no heed and
'burned me off'':

By now I was getting very frustrated:

Purely by chance I discovered the publishing house of
Melrose
Books in Cambridge. More importantly, they decided they
had discovered me!
Up to that point, I felt I had been running around in squares
and each time I tried, it just turned out to be another one of
THOSE DAYS!

My appreciation goes to the Commissioning
Editor and Jill de Laat for
sharing the same vision as myself.
I would also like to give three cheers

to the whole Melrose Books Production Staff for their dedication
and professional expertise:

'Our aim at
Melrose Books is to publish today's best new writers
in an eclectic range of subjects and genres. To date we have
successfully published titles in General Fiction, Children's
Fiction, Fantasy, Literature, Biography, Travel, Religion and
Science Reference.'
They said you are welcome to order
'The Wild Flower Trilogy'
direct from
MELROSE BOOKS.
I would also like to give my appreciation to:
Bryan
Carpenter
Production Manager, Melrose Books (as
above) for the design of the dust
jacket covers for my books.

Bryan said you are welcome to view his private artwork gallery

HELP FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SUFFERING
ABUSE OR BULLYING
Book II
CHILDREN OF THE STARS
& Book III A BUNCH OF WILD FLOWERS
briefly touches upon the subjects of child physical and sexual
abuse and bullying. If this raises personal issues for any
young readers of my books, I have spoken to the very nice
people at CHILDLINE
and they have told me:
TO CONTACT THEM FOR HELP OR A CHAT.
ChildLine is the UK's free 24-hour helpline for children and
young people in danger or distress, who can call ChildLine on
0800 1111 for help with bullying, abuse or any other problem.

*Child Protection issues are very close to my
heart. For this reason I have included the
CHILDLINE
0800 1111 details on the
'Useful Contacts' page at the rear of my books.

Did you know that Mother
Nature’s English Bluebells are under threat?
So are many more flowers!
According to the new survey
‘Red List’
for Britain’s plants, one
in five wild flower species is threatened with extinction. The
survey lists 20% as “critically endangered”, “endangered” or
“vulnerable to extinction.” PLANTLIFE assisted in this.
That is why I have listed
PLANTLIFE’s details in the back of my books.
Their President is David
Bellamy and the organisation would be grateful for any help, or
support you can give them. They have a Flora Guardian’s scheme
for the over 18’s, but also actively encourage young people
under 18 years old to take part in their wild flower surveys.
Past summer surveys have included the Harebell Hunt and the
Bluebell Hunt. If you want to know
more:

They have told me 'You're Welcome' to visit their
website at:

stands on a traffic island at Lutterworth - near to junction 20
of the M1. For a picture, details of Whittle's life and
